The Devil Made Me Do It

By now you should have sussed that my life revolves around mailing lists. As such, the Devil has been a massive influence on me these past couple of days - not that I've physically joined any Axis of Evil or swopped witchcraft for Satanism - just that the Devil's name keeps cropping up.

I'm writing a series of articles explaining how to read Tarot cards and yesterday, it was the turn of The Devil card. I do actually put a bit of thought into these things, despite how it might look in the finished article! So there I was for at least two hours, going about my business and thinking about all those catchphrases: 'The Devil made me do it', 'I got the Devil in me today', 'What the Devil was that?!', 'The Devil makes work for idle thumbs to do' - that latter I'd forgotten about, but while I was thinking up Devil catchphrases, over my Sunday lunch, an advert came on the telly with that one in it. You get to think you're being helped in the finish...

But the Devil take yesterday, it's today now. Guess what, there were a few mumblings on The Kindly Ones about all the gobby people on there having similiar views; and the whole point about that list is that we argue constantly about politics. It's no good us ALL saying the same things.

So here's me, completely mentally exhausted after having spent today playing Devil's Advocate on a mailing list.

yours
