Homesick & happy to be here

Maybe it is because of the way Johan used the word homesick in the previous entry… here's a list of random things I've caught myself feeling homesick for the past few weeks:

Scotland, and more specifically,
The way the light falls on the hills of St Andrews
Rachel's frog-green bathroom in Dundee
And the seagulls flying above the central square
The grey, cool northerness of the buildings
And the light that is so different from here
Also, walking down Blackness road because it's parallel to the firth...
The streets of Glasgow, especially under torrential rain
And running into the 13th note
But not before splashing in a giant puddle
The steps that lead to the river in Inverness
The B&B we never stayed at
And the bandstand in Nairn
Soft, cool rain falling on a window that is part of the roof, so you can stand underneath it
The top of Primrose Hill (which I know very well is not in Scotland)
And London Tube stations
Especially London Bridge I think, because it reminds me of going to picnics
The tall trees on the other side of the street, opposite my uncle's kitchen window in Germany
Trains
Rain
And those berries you have with cream and brown sugar whose bloody name I can't remember
