Our house on the top of the hill
We've moved.
Now from my bedroom window I can see the city from above: from a fairly strange and slightly distant point of view I have to admit, but it's gorgeous nonetheless. Reading in bed at night I see thousands of lights flickering in the not-so-far discance and the darkness of the sea (that is difference from the darkness of the sky) if only I lift my head a little. When I wake up in the morning I get blinding greek sunlight bathing the reclining slope -a parking lot and houses and gardens and trees- making colours paler and paler until it all disappears in a haze; and yet I know the sea is out there and it's all downhill from here to it. It makes me feel lucky, luckier than (I think) I am: it's hard to believe that it's me living here (and not someone richer), that I'm actually living here (and not just visiting)... But not before it makes me feel a little bit too lonely, too. With every beautiful moment comes the wish that there was someone here to share it with.
