Simon lives! Dreams come true when you least expect it . . .
Simon exists. It's true! He's a real flesh-and-blood boy.
All right, so maybe I should begin at the beginning. A month ago I was still getting ready to go to Dublin, and around this time I had a dream--an incredibly vivid dream, which is odd for me--that I was inorexably destined to have my future linked with a boy named Simon.
So I told all my friends, and I asked them if they knew anyone named Simon. No one did, and neither did I; and neither did Dimitra and Rachel, though Sister Janice in her infinite wisdom suggested he was wandering aroung the galaxy somewhere.
Then three weeks ago I flew to Dublin, and less than six hours off the plane met--a boy from England named Simon! I thought I had stepped into the twilight zone.
It's true this story doesn't have any incredibly cliched endings. No, I didn't marry Simon; I didn't even fall in love with him, and I'm not living in Dublin now. But I did hang out with him the whole time . . found he was incredibly intelligent and obsessed with Dr. Who and generally just a lot of fun. We talked about Morrissey and Beautiful South and why the Brits drive on the left side of the road. It does go to show what I've always believed, though. If you have enough blind faith, against incredible odds your dreams will come true. Even if it takes a long time. Just ask Simon.
