The Countryside

There aren’t a lot of shops, and there isn’t always that much sun, and quite often there is a lot of rain and mud. The fields of cows are rather smelly, the public transport doesn’t always transport you anywhere, and the choice of entertainment is limited.
But I like living here. I like being constantly amazed at how beautiful the countryside is. The fells are soft and gentle. Lakes glisten in the sunlight. Deer dance in far of fields and strange birds with hooked beaks wander about drinking up the contents of the earth the way children drink coke through a straw
I get excited when I see wild animals and wild plants thriving without any human help. Or despite human help. It makes me hopeful.
Hopeful for what I'm not sure.
