Allow me to
Today I turned from the girl who would rather stay home even though she thinks ‘no war’ is a very good idea into the girl who doesn’t mind getting up a few hours earlier than usual to go and stand in the cold with people she generally disagrees a lot with.
I think it was the Aislers Set press release that did it. Somewhere near the middle, it said:
THERE WILL BE WORLDWIDE PROTESTS AGAINST WAR ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 15th (SO AS NOT TO CONFLICT WITH THE CHINESE NEW YEARS PARADE, IN SAN FRANCISCO IT WILL BE HELD ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 16TH).
And I thought, look, a pop group cares enough to include it in a press release. And Rachel cares enough to take a bus all the way from Carlisle to Glasgow. Just because she wants to be a part of it. And suddenly I wanted to be a part of it too.
And then we got excited about it, about doing the same it two separate cities in the same time. And about people in more than 600 other cities all over the world doing the same, too.
As Rachel said (elsewhere), quoting Paul, it’s not what has happened in the past that keeps you going, but what may happen in the future. And I want to think something may happen.
Allow me to do that, okay?
